Are we planning to increase the physical footprint of the church?

No, not at this time.

How much money are we trying to raise? Who do we owe? Is this related to our leaving the PC/USA?

We are praying for $200,000 over the next 2 years. We do not owe any money to anyone; CCP is debt-free. None of these dollars is associated with our graceful separation from the PC/USA. While there was a minimal cost involved in the separation agreement, the separation was completed in 2016. The $200,000 is specifically for church/two-flat building projects.

What if I can’t commit to 2 years? What if I want to commit to more than 2 years?

You don’t have to commit to 2 years if you don’t feel comfortable. The pledge card will provide for a variety of pledges. For example, some have already indicated their intention to give a single lump sum payment. And you can always change your commitment, should you need to. To keep administration simpler, we’d prefer to limit commitments to 2 years.

If I reduce my regular offering to participate in the campaign, will we still be able to meet our operating budget?

We’re asking that no one reduces their giving to the operational budget to participate in the campaign. That would indicate that you’re already giving back to God in a very sacrificial way. Any pledge to “Building on Faith” should be in addition to your regular pledge. The amount is not important – what is important is that each individual or family makes a personal commitment between themselves and God. Faith in action and giving back to God honors God.

I’m not a member (covenant partner). Can I participate in “Building on Faith”?

Yes! If you’re regularly attending CCP, we welcome your participation. We're hoping you feel like part of the CCP family and that at some point you’ll feel led to become a covenant partner.

What happens if we fall short of the $200,000 goal after 2 years? What happens if we have significantly more after 2 years?

We put our goal into God’s hands. While we work hard towards that goal, God is ultimately the one providing through all of us. If we come up short, CCP leaders will need to try to discern how God is speaking to us. In the same way, God will be speaking through more money raised, and leaders will need to carefully discern how God is speaking to us in that case, too.

Will I still be able to contribute to the regular building fund?

Yes; if you use a pink building fund envelope or designate “Building Fund” on the front of a regular offering envelope, your donation will be designated to the regular building fund (used for maintenance or emergencies).

Do I put my “Building on Faith” contribution in the same envelope with my regular offering? Will I get a charitable contribution receipt if I donate cash?

Yes, if you have regular offering envelopes, you can combine giving through a single check by designating on the front of the envelope what amounts should be given to regular, building fund, or “Building on Faith” contributions. If you would like to give distinct checks, you can note “Building on Faith” in the memo line and on the front of the envelope.

When you contribute cash, or if you do not have regular offering envelopes, we ask that you use the “Building on Faith” envelopes, filling out all contact information the first time you contribute. For subsequent cash contributions, just your full name will suffice.

How many people will know who participates and how much they’re donating?

We understand what a sensitive topic this is, and as such, only the bare minimum people will have access to this information (for example, campaign fulfillment leader and financial secretary). Even on the campaign team, most will only have generic statistical information available, in order to regularly report on progress toward our overall goal.
